Which Lake is Which

With a common surname like LAKE pinpointing which family is actually yours can be a bit tricky.  To the best of my knowledge there are three main LAKE families in Lincolnshire.  My LAKE family comes from the south western part of the county near Boston.  An excellent resource for old English counties is The Phillimore Atlas and Index of Parish Registers by Cecil R. Humphries-Smith (editor), 3rd ed.  (Copyright prevents me from posting a copy of the map here.)

My line of the LAKE family did not immigrate to the United States.  They came to Canada in 1926.  And because they didn't come to Canada until the 20th century, there are not part of the LAKE family of who were United Empire Loyalists.

So, who are the people in my LAKE family?
The core couple who are the focus of my research are my great-grandparents, Hebert LAKE and Fanny CRAWFORD.
It is the research into their ancestry that will provide the content of this blog.

Now some of you may recall a website called Lake Family of Lincolnshire.  Well that belongs to me too.  Unfortunately, the information is static and out of date, and I am no longer able to update the site.  Nonetheless,  I invite you to take a look at the website anyway to see if the surnames I have posted there are of interest to you.  If you find a name you are researching then please leave me a comment here on this blog.  I would love to hear from you.
